It's a rainy Saturday and we just finished watching Texas A&M blow away Iowa State, a much needed addition to their win earlier this week. Nuf about that.
Prince 1 is still plugging away in Fayetteville in Architecture. An INTERESTING fact I learned this week.....the toy made popular in the 20's, Lincoln Logs....were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and the first product was designed to model Abe Lincoln's boyhood log cabin home. It is so odd to think of FLW designing Lincoln Logs and the modern home you see earlier in my blog. I find Lincoln's story to be so interesting and love to learn more and more about him.
Several years ago we took a family vacation to Washington DC with the Queen's mom and dad. We were able to tour the Ford's Theater and the Petersen House where Lincoln died. We saw lots of items pertaining to Lincoln, but especially the black suit he was wearing when he was shot.
A couple of years later the KING surprised me. He was TDY in DC and I flew out to spend a few days there with him. He surprised me by taking me to see an actual play production in the Ford's Theater as well as a dinner cruise on the Potomac River. AMAZING! The Ford's Theater has been closed for a while since then for renovation, but just opened back up last month. Great memories!
Prince 2 is on the LRCA soccer team this season. They are playing beautifully and will probably go to the State Tournament. He has some GREAT friends on the team and really enjoys playing.
The King's possibly job in Houston is off the list. God doesn't seem to be leading us in that direction at this time. With Prince 2 being a Senior next year.....Scott needs to be involved in all the activities. In fact the two of them went to College Station last week for Prince 2 to take a Texas A&M University tour. They drove up to Dallas following that for him to take the AIMS Testing for his Aptitude inventory. Much, much was learned and he certainly has a lot to think about.
The Queen's first day at her new job was yesterday......WOW....lots to wrap my head around, but I believe I will really enjoy it. The job requires that I tap into my medical background in radiology and I find that interesting, as well as other medical lab supply information. 40 hours will be exhausting, but I'm just thankful for the opportunity to work at a job close to home, decent pay and with an organization that is Christ centered and has a family atmosphere. Those I will be working with are quite fun and we laugh a lot. More later.......
