Oh yes....forgot to mention our trip last weekend. The Queen took her mother to NW Arkansas to see the Queen's sister and her family as well as Prince 1. The Queen took Prince 1 to Tulsa for the day on Saturday and had a wonderful time. We visited the Woodland Hills Mall to go to the Apple Store.....yipee!! Then Prince 1 had researched some places to visit in Tulsa.....a museum, The Philbrook Museum, and a house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, the Westhope House. The Philbrook Museum was full of beautiful art, but especially a beautiful garden that the Prince really enjoyed seeing. Following the trip to the museum, we went to the house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, named the Westhope. This crazy Queen thought that it was probably a tourist spot, since she knows that this man was a very famous architect.
After finding the house....I saw that there were some parking places in the front, about 8 of them. There was also a brass plate by the front door, I thought indicating it was open for touring. Prince 1 then saw a gentleman wearing pajamas through the front door and asked me to drive away. Being the assertive Queen that I am....I went to the door and asked to speak with him. I found that he lives there with his Aunt, who owns the home.....which is a private residence. He was aware of some of the history of the home and agreed to allow us to take photos of the outside. (Of course the Queen is not so assertive as to ask to tour the inside, TeeHee) Prince 1 and I spent almost an hour taking photos of the outside of the home, the garden, the pool and the landscape. We have several photos of this, and as soon as Prince 1 comes home I will post a few. Somehow we ended up with a smooth rock from the garden in the back of this home......Hum....I wonder how that happened! (No, it wasn't the Prince) The home was built in 1929 by Frank Lloyd Wright for a cousin, Richard Lloyd Jones of NW Arkansas...
It was called the "Glass House" by the neighbors who eventually moved around it but named the Westhope House by the designer. Prince 1 could answer all the why's about this design, but suffice it to say it was an oddly designed home in my opinion. It was a GREAT day! Visit these sites to see more:
