Change is not optional....

Since my posts have been so few and far between this last year...not all of you are aware of all the changes The Royal Castle has gone through. Prince 1, after a yucky Spring Semester at the University of Arkansas is back in the groove with the Architecture Program. Having found his passion, he has thrown himself into the program and loves it. I was fortunate to see photos of his projects from this Fall semester and am amazed. Hopefully I will soon be able to post one or two. The Prince moved into a studio apartment in October and is very close to the Architecture Building. He's been home only twice, but is due home today for the Christmas break. It will be so nice to have him here with us. He is really a joy to be around.

In October my job at Fellowship Bible Church as the Web Communication Coordinator was eliminated. Lots of behind the scenes discussion I'm sure....but since taking the job in March of 2008 the web site process has been a roller coaster. The powers that be searched long and hard to find a company to design and host the new FBC site.....paid mega-bucks for it, all before I was hired for my job. I was tasked with content editing and compliance as well as working with the various ministries and campuses to ensure consistency, relevancy and that content was up to date and images were loading appropriately. The site went live in June of 08 and by September it was decided that it wasn't working, and those 'powers' took a different path.....one that didn't include a Web Communications Coordinator. After 4 faithful years with the church the news hit me really hard. I was graciously given some paid time to adjust and am thankful for that. So as I sit at my computer this morning, I am also submitting resumes to the various employment agencies here in the Kingdom.

Prince 2 is taking finals this week. Hard to believe his Junior year is half way over and we are looking at his last year home with us. Prince 1's move was hard....and still is. But when Prince 2 goes on to the next phase of his life.....I'm sure the Empty Nest Syndrome will be hard to take. Not only is Prince 2 on the Tennis Team, and loves it....he is now on the Soccer Team. Not sure when the games start for this next season, but I'm anticipating sitting in some really cold weather to watch him.

Not only did my daddy leave, Prince 1 move on and FBC letting me go....but now a job change is in the horizon for the King. Because the King has 20 years in the Air Force and is eligable for retirement....we are looking into the next phase of his career. He has found his sweet spot in Human Resources and is working toward that certification. Huge test in January for this certification. The City of Houston has interviewed him a few times for a couple of different positions. I am so proud of him, as they seem to be pursuing him and validating what his interests and gifting are. So....if things pan out, with Houston or another position, we are looking at another change.....CHANGE!!!! Oh that change were optional.....but alas, it is not.
